Stock lens with nominal index 1.60, short-wavelength filtering and DuraTech LR low-reflection coating. Spectral performance does not imply complete blue-light removal or a proven treatment effect.
Application and design rationale
Spectral filtering alongside a low-reflection coating
MR-8 is the material and 1.60 the nominal index of this stock lens. Reduced transmission at the UV/deep-violet boundary differs from blocking all blue light; the low-reflection coating separately manages surface reflections.

Design mechanism and features
Three regions of the transmission curve
The chart plots transmission against wavelength: very low near 400–415 nm, a transition around 415–445 nm and high transmission from about 450 nm. These graphical readings do not replace instrument measurements.
UV410 and visible light
UV410 refers to filtering extending across the UV/deep-violet boundary. 410 nm is visible; the name does not mean all blue light is blocked or that the cutoff is vertical. High longer-wavelength transmission indicates selective filtering.
DuraTech and DuraTech LR
DuraTech is described for reducing short-wavelength transmission and DuraTech LR for reducing surface reflection. A transmission chart does not establish exact surface reflectance or residual reflection at different angles; reflectance data is needed.
DuraShield protective coating
The updated file describes DuraShield as a protective coating with water/oil repellency and scratch resistance. Its conditional availability statement requires confirmation for the ordered configuration; scratch resistance is not absolute scratch-proofing.
Limits of interpretation
The curve does not demonstrate total blue-light blocking, complete retinal protection, improved sleep or guaranteed fatigue relief. It also does not establish anti-fog or antistatic features. Test conditions are unspecified.
Approximate transmission data

|---|---|
| 400 nm | Approximately 0% |
| 410 nm | Approximately 0 to 5% |
| 420 nm | Approximately 10 to 15% |
| 425 nm | Approximately 30 to 40% |
| 430 nm | Approximately 60 to 65% |
| 435 nm | Approximately 80% |
| 440 nm | Approximately 90% |
| 450 nm | Approximately 95% |
| 460 to 470 nm | Approximately 96 to 97% |
| 480 nm | Approximately 97% |
| 500 to 600 nm | Approximately 97 to 99% |
| 650 nm | Approximately 99% |
| 680 to 700 nm | Approximately 98 to 99% |
Values are graphical estimates; instrument data and test conditions were not supplied. At 450 nm, the text gives approximately 85–95% and the table approximately 95%.
Technologies in this design

- Low-reflection coating; distinct from DuraTech spectral filtering.
DuraTech and DuraShield
DuraTech is a selective short-wavelength filter. DuraShield is the protective coating described in the updated document; confirm it in the final order configuration.
Transmission curve
The original chart supplied for this product plots wavelength in nanometres horizontally and transmission vertically. Exact test conditions were not supplied.
